The X-Files: I Want to Believe

I saw the second X-Files movie the day after it came out and haven't gotten around to reviewing it until now. So....fasten your seatbelts because this is gonna be a bumpy ride! hahahahhahhaha

Spoilers )

All in all, the movie really sucked. I guess it would be okay to a non-X-Files fan, but yeah. Didn't do much justice for me. I'd give it no more than 3 stars out of 5.

The Painted Veil

my friend and i saw "The Painted Veil" last night, and it was pretty decent!

Don't think badly of it because of my review...because, well, i suck at these things haha. But it's a great film that you should watch.

Fight Club

Every once in a while, a movie pops up that utterly blows your mind and changes your thought process.

"Fight Club" is one of these movies.

The movie based on Chuck Palahniuk's best-selling novel [Fight Club] will jumble your mind through a series of thought-provoking concepts. And it all comes in a full package: it has all the right humor, violence [hella], and freaky pyscho-ism, if that's your thing, of course.

All in all, Fight Club is one of the most remarkable movies ever made. If you're really inspired by my little review [teehee] and just can't wait to rent Fight Club over the weekend, and really want to see some clips, go to youtube and watch some. There's loads out there, but it would be mega spoiler alert.
Soooo. How did you like the review? Comments, suggestions, anything at all?

The 79th Academy Awards

Okay, so the 79th Oscars were yesterday (so was George [Harrison]'s 64th bday, yay!) And I thought I'd talk about it here.
I thought it was a so-so show, just like most other award shows. I liked last year's better, but that was only because the camera wouldn't stop showing yummy close-ups of Jake [Gyllenhaal]'s face. But this year's was boring and blah.
Hmm, well, in case you didn't watch, here's who won what:
BEST ACTRESS: helen mirren, 'the queen'
BEST ACTOR: forest whitaker, 'last king of scotland'
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: jennifer hudson, 'dreamgirls'
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: alan arkin, 'little miss sunshine'
BEST DIRECTOR: martin scorcesese, 'the departed' (finally)
BEST PICTURE: 'the departed'

well, no surprise with best supporting actress, best actress & best actor. but i really wanted leo dicaprio to win for best actor. and, oh my god, you can't get me started on how much i hated The Departed. Seriously. I thought it was such a stupidly long movie. I didn't like it at all :P But whatever, thank god Martin Scorcesese finally won best director. I mean, he's made a million great movies, but never won for director, so yay for him. I really didn't want The Departed to win best picture, I was more for Babel and Little Miss Sunshine. Whatever.
Okay, for the fashion of the night. I thought most people wore really nasty clothes. Especially what that thing Gwyneth Paltrow was wearing, haha. But I thought Reese Witherspoon looked amaaaazing. Yes.

hahha, well, this was a short entry mainly because I have work to do. Okay. Yes.

hello!

Hello & welcome to the movie review journal of hala_starr!
As some of you may already know, I (Sharan), am a movie-obsessed freak. I have seriously seen a million + movies and I simply love pop culture and the movies. I think I was born to be a movie journalist, and that's one of my aspirations. Anyways, I hope you like my reviews and all the things I post.
Okayyyy. Let's get on with the movies now!
